August 24 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Lucy Bracey, professional historian from Way Back When consulting historians, will present this workshop with fellow historian Judy Hughes of Shenachie Productions.

The workshop will provide an introduction to oral history practice, focusing on research, ethics, equipment, interviewing techniques and transcribing. Suitable for students, volunteers or anyone with an interest in recording oral histories. You will gain valuable insights into the work of oral history practice.

Learn how to prepare questions, develop the required forms, the ethics and permissions involved and receive top tips to a good interview. Sarah uses real examples to illustrate some of the pitfalls and some of the gems from actual interviews. Judy brings a journalist’s background to storytelling.

You will have the opportunity to practise writing questions, as well as to conduct a short interview.  Please bring your recording device with you.

Morning and afternoon tea are provided but you will need to either bring or purchase your own lunch.

Registrations are essential and places are limited.

Please note that the discounted OHV member rate is only available to current members. You may be asked for proof of membership or concession status on the day of the workshop.

OHV reserves the right to cancel this event in the case of unforeseen circumstances, in which case a full refund will be made.
